I pray you don't go home alone.

Can't lie the past few weeks have been pretty tough. I seem to be in a stage of when it rains it pours. So, after a particularly strange day at work I poured myself a glass of wine, and tried to forget about myself for the night.

On the positive side I've been surrounding myself with good friends. Making fun plans for this upcoming weekend has definitely gotten me thru. I've also been listening to different new music lately. One thing I can't stop listening to is: The Jealous Sound "Your eyes were shining" New tunes tend to distract me away from reality for a little while, and refocus on my bigger picture.

I know this stage will pass I just hope it's on the sooner end of things. Until then I'll focus on what's going well, and keep moving forward.

life's too short to even care at all.

There's so many things I like in this outfit. I know I've been going on and on about spring coming, but I can't help to layer. I've been making moves into corporate America, and finding a balance between my fashion side, and not looking like Lady Gaga can be a challenge. I think this outfit minus the fur sandals would work perfectly in any office.
Some stand outs in this outfit are...
The necklace I have on was a gift from my best friend. It's made of tiger's eye briolettes by a local jewelry designer who's name I can't recall unfortunately. It has such a pretty collection of yellow/orange & beige colors to it. I think it adds to any outfit with tan and navy tones to it. Plus, I won't lie I get a ton of compliments on it whenever it's sitting on my neck.
The tan skirt is made of a virgin wool and viscose blend that makes it really easy to move in. The color is a really beautiful caramel that works with almost any color combo you can think of. I've paired this skirt with a navy silk blouse, a navy sweater vest, and chocolate brown tights.
The last part of this picture I love is my hair color. Okay, I know that sounds super vain, butttt I really loved when my hair was lighter in the spring/summer of last year. When Fall rolled around I dyed it back to a more natural tone, but I really can't wait to get back in the hairdresser's chair to lighten it up again. Maybe in the next few weeks I'll make an appointment.

rock, pop, & lock it.

I have a minor obsession with jewelry. Actually, it's a more specific bracelet addiction if I'm coming totally clean. So, blogsphere I'm Kourtney, and I'm a bracelet junkie.
I've been known to pile on my faves at one time creating what is affectionately known as an arm party. I layer em on as if someone is going to break into my apartment an steal them. My philosophy is there can never be too many jewels, and I'm always adding to my collection.

st. patrick's day photo diary

St. Patrick's day weekend in Boston is not a time to look pulled together. Maybe that sounds bad, but I tend to gravitate toward casual easy pieces that make it easy to bar hop.
Saturday was spent at The Black Rose, a popular Irish bar in Faneuil Hall. Sunday we all regrouped to watch the South Boston parade, and of course to see the adorable kids decked out in their best green & orange outfits. After a weekend of gorgeous weather I think it's safe to say spring is here.

Closet Spotlight: Julien Louie for ALDO Sobeslava Suede Wedges

Sometimes you never know what gems you'll find at the local mall. I caught a lot of shit from friends last Spring when I got these puppies from ALDO. Truth be told I have in the past made fun of ALDO, buttt these are a designer guest spot. So, I write it off as totally okay.

Julien Louie is an upcoming contemporary women's wear designer, and his shoes are out of control. For his Fall 2012 showing he embraced a floral colorblocking motif that would make Martha Stewart proud. I mean I want to rip that little floral deep v dress off that model and slap it on my body.

Julien Louie Fall Ready to Wear 2012

Anyway, back to my shoes. Despite doing the collaboration with ALDO almost a year ago the shoes I snagged and few of his tribal wedges are still available here.

Okay, please ignore the state of my room in the background of this photo as the little sand babies are in this shot. As spring is pretty much sprung here in Boston I can't wait to bust these out this weekend.

irish eyes are smiling

Okay, so it's really no secret to my friends and family that whenever I meet new people they are instantly wondering what my ethnicity is. It's a question that often annoys and bothers me. Not because it isn't a valid way of getting to know someone, but that 9 times out of 10 the person asking already has a preexisting idea. So.... that's set the record straight.

What I got from my dad: Scottish, Welsh, & English
What I got from my mom: French Canadian, Native American

With that out of the way I have to admit having no Irish in my blood and living in South Boston hasn't stopped me from partaking in the yearly bash that happens here.
Last year my roomies and I got creative turning little green headbands into elaborate festive headpieces.

The year before that we made little bowler hats splashed with glitter, gold coins, and shamrocks.

With one week left before St. Patrick's weekend... any thoughts out there on how we should celebrate?
