mondays off never get me down.

After a weekend filled with friend reunions, family visits, and a Black Friday weekend from hell taking Monday off was necessary.

Luckily for me my roommate B also took it off. We got to have brownies, get the Christmas decorations out, picked out some sparkly gems for our roommate's boyfriend to get us for gifts, and lastly I gave myself a manicure. It was the perfect cure to the Thanksgiving hangover.

essie: steel-ing the scene & miniluxe: luxe confetti

I've gotten into the habit of painting one nail on each hand a different color or using confetti polish. Makes the manicure a little more unique, and worth the loot you put into it. Rudolph's on and I'm enjoying it with my roomies...check back later.

drool worthy clothes

I can't stop thinking about either of these beautifully done editorial shoots that Marie Claire put out with Elle Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen.
Fanning's shoot was young and totally girly... heavy on the Mui Mui big on the Louis Vuitton. It's like a candy store dream. Olsen's shoot was totally different... all Chanel all day. It's my dream to be in head to toe Chanel, and I'm sure many other ladies. Please enjoy the photos no need for descriptions.

a few things you should know about me.

Everyone has quirks to their personalities. Special qualities that make them unique. Often times these endearing traits can be embarrassing. At times we can want to hide these quirks away only sharing them with those closet to us. Or let's face it the people in our lives that will judge us the least for them.

There are a couple things in life that make me extremely happy. They are very simple and often times don't cost more than $20. Over the years I've accumulated quite a collection in two very different categories. Two of the things I can't live my life without are magazines and basic cotton t-shirts.

I know on the outside they don't seem like terrible things to have. One gives you all kinds of updates and information and the other is comfortable and a necessity in anyone's closet. I guess here's where the rub is for me.
Some of my faves throughout the years

I have drawers upon drawers filled with these kinds of t-shirts. Ones that are connected to specific memories, college events, and childhood sporting teams. I can't bare to part with them not cause I think I'll wear them all the time or even eventually, but because they hold a sense of nostalgia for me. Hopefully, at some point I'll make a quilt out of all the shirts. It'll free out drawer space, and I won't have to toss the memories.

Magazines are things I hang on to for several reasons (Like any true hoarder I am trying to justify my actions a little bit here). My love for fashion started before I can even really remember. I just always loved putting outfits together, and thru working in high end retail I have gained a real appreciation for clothing that is well made.

Magazines really combine the two. I love all the editorial shots, and how they showcase clothing in a more whimsical way. The idea of viewing clothing as something more than fabrics and sewing is extremely important to me.

On the flip side I do love all the tips magazines can give on how to pair clothing together in unexpected fun ways- it makes playing in my closet all the more fun.

by my nightstand is a collection of newer magazines

As you can probably tell I have magazines all over my apartment. Often times this is welcomed by visitors to the house while their waiting around for one of us to be ready to go out.

I guess things could be worse... I mean I could collect Precious Moments or collectible spoons. Right?

if it's good enough for beyonce it's good enough for me.

Ever find yourself in total leg envy of pop stars like Beyonce and Katy Perry? Okay, I admit that's a weird question, but if your a lady who likes to show off your legs it's a valid claim. For years I've been wondering what they used to make their legs look shiny and tanned, and now thanks to Mrs. Russell Brand I know.
Katy Perry did an interview with In Style in October and gushed about Wolford's Neon 40 tights. She like myself had serious leg envy of Beyonce. Unlike me she had access to her and just asked, and now I'm sharing the wealth with you ladies out there. The Neon 40's come in a few color options to match anyone's skin tone. Below I have on Cosmetic.

I just love the pearl effect these tights take on my legs. It's just so pretty, and from a distance they don't even look like you have anything on. This is a MUST for every girl out there, and while we can't all be rockstars at least our legs can look like they're going out on a world tour.

thanksgiving photo diary

This year our family gathered at my mom's house as we always do for Thanksgiving. I love that we all get to come together, and catch up if only for a few hours.
As you all can see by my photo album my beautiful niece had on the world's cutest outfit. Who knew Nicole Miller made little girls clothes?
I'm very thankful for the supportive family and loving friends I have. It's nice to remember the simple things we have that make life worth it. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

not your typical holiday display

Having been with Elie Tahari now nearly 3 years I've come to except that we don't do your typical Christmas window displays. Elie likes to embrace all religions and culture differences, so no garland, no wreaths, no red stuff. I agree with his stance, and have come to appreciate this styling for the holiday season. Plus, we sort of stand out in a world saturated in Santa and Christmas balls. This year we did a very architectural installation. The bronze, silver, and champagne color palette bounces off nicely with Elie's bright big pops of pink.
